biography
Lou Duca born in Milazzo, Sicily, in 1983. Always passionate about applied arts, he obtained his
diploma in goldsmithing at the Art Institute of his city and moved to Rome to attend the Academy of Fine Arts graduating with honors in Painting.
In Rome, where he currently lives, he began working in the scenographic sector, creating installations for the most important opera theaters in the world, acquiring the technical skills that would lead him to build his own artistic vision in the following years.
The artist, thanks to his academic path, proposes a stylistic code expressed in very different techniques such as sculpture, décollage and video-installation where the suggestion to classical texts, works and architecture is constant.
In 2020 he was selected among the five winning artists of the Best N.I.C.E. Prize, as part of the Paratissima event. He participates in events and collective exhibitions in various Italian cities, while in Rome in the period 2020-2023 he realized three solo shows.
The artist, through his research, trys to demonstrate how life can extend itself beyond subjective limits and boundaries and in order to achieve that goal he uses the resilient materials, that respond directly to the surrounding environment, dragging the viewer into an alternative world, where it’s possible to capture the human drama in its eternal beauty.
