Greta Grillo

biography

GRETA GRILLO was born in Cantù (CO) on 10 May 1989.
After studying at the Liceo Artistico Niccolò Barabino in Genoa, she continued her education at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti. She developed a strong interest in Contemporary Art and after a brief experimental period of informal painting, her choice was in the direction of an abstract, anti-illusionist, monochrome way of painting.
Her personal research and her friendship with the artist Enzo Cacciola led her to approach Analytical Painting to the point of outlining her own artistic identity. Sharing the aspects of the rituality of action painting, of the uniformity of the monochrome of analytical painters, Greta Grillo tends to seek ways of painting that reflect her cognitive and emotional climate, her attraction for fluid chromatic matter.
For the artist, matter becomes the protagonist, a fundamental part, if not even the driving force of the entire process.
She affirmed this new way of painting for the first time at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa in 2012, and then subsequently participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, often appearing alongside the historical exponents of Analytical Painting.
She currently lives in Rome, where she works in the world of entertainment as a scenic painter for film industry, in parallel with her artistic activity in her historic studio in Rocca Grimalda (AL).
